Shaver’s Creek Renovation and Expansion

Shaver’s Creek moved into a vacant Forestry Lodge around 1980.  The Forestry Lodge was constructed in 1938 for Penn State’s School of Forestry. As Shaver’s Creek programs, visitors, and staff expanded, the facilities needed to be modernized and expanded. In 2015, Shaver’s Creek started to plan and develop its most significant renovation and expansion in its history.  The renovation plan was designed to celebrate its heritage and providing for its future growth.  The plan included a renovation its existing 1930’s lodge building, the construction of two new classroom buildings and the addition of a new office wing for its staff.  In 2016, WPPSEF committed $35,000 to co-fund a variable refrigerant flow heating/cooling system and structural insulation panels for the building envelop.  After being closed for two years of renovations, Shaver’s Creek reopened to the public on September 1, 2018.
