Transforming How We Cook – Induction Cooking
Discover a precise cooking technology that is safer, healthier, and more energy efficient than conventional electric and gas cooking. Induction cooking uses electricity to directly heat pans through magnetic induction which heats the cooking vessel itself almost instantly. Induction compliant pans and pots are readily available. Kitchens are healthier, safer, and cooler because there are no open flames nor hot cooktops. Induction cooktops are easy to clean and provide precise heat that is consistent with gas.
Induction cooking workshops for commercial kitchens were organized by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in collaboration with Forward Dining Solutions. WPPSEF provided support to the workshops held at the ReFarm Café at Windswept Farm and Chatham University Eden Hall Campus. Attendees were provided an overview of induction cooking, toured the kitchens, and sample the food. In addition to the commercial kitchen workshops, WPPSEF is working with ReFarm and Eden Hall to having public outreach events.
