Project Info
Decarbonizing Succop Nature Park
In 2023, the Audubon Society of Western PA (ASWP) worked with WPEF to install an additional grid-tied, roof-mounted solar PV system on a garage/shop building adjacent to the T.W. Phipps education and visitor center. The new solar system is comprised of eighty-four (84) Hanwha Q cell 480-watt solar modules, each with an Enphase IQ8A microinverter. ASWP efforts were focused on reducing their electric costs while working to decarbonize the Succop campus. ASWP upgraded their existing natural gas cooking in the Marcraig House to a Frigidaire induction unit with the support of WPEF. The induction unit is used for wedding catering and other events. ASWP also purchased three portable induction cooktops to demonstrate and showcase induction cooking to the public. Induction cooking provides an elegant cooking technology to those wishing to electrify their buildings while improving kitchen safety.
Impact
